KATHRYN SESSER has been a designer with The Times of Northwest Indiana for more than three years, but a writer all her life. A Mississippi girl, this resident of Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood is a Southerner through and through: Good food, good conversation and good music drive the soul. When not dreaming of grits, this lyrical junkie can be found wandering the streets of Chicago or searching for gems on vinyl – Akron/Family, Grizzly Bear, Bon Iver and Black Moth Super Rainbow are among the latest on rotation. If the sun is out – and it’s above freezing – find her at Montrose beach with her dog, Huxley.

  1. howdy kathyrn,

i never respond to blog postings (there are far too many good ones from which to choose)…but i found your blog inhabited by many of the wonderful things that appeal to me: food, people, dogs and music. thank you for the garrett popcorn shout out. i am its cfo. i’d be happy to buy you a bag of the mix the next time you and your camera are downtown.

    • Thank you so much Scott! I must say my Mississippi Mother is thrilled I heard from you, as Garrett’s is the place she must go when she comes to visit. I appreciate that you found something you liked in my blog … And yes, food, people dogs and music make my world go ’round. I’ll have to hit you up soon for some popcorn. I make sure everyone that comes to visit has their first taste with me. Take care. Kacy
